meet the grub gals!

grub-galsBetty Fraser and Denise DeCarlo, co-owners of the popular, LA-based As You Like It Catering and award-winning restaurant Grub, have carved out a prominent niche for themselves in a highly competitive field. By integrating a unique sense of style and never-ending energy into their work, The Grub Gals have become known for their fresh “California Comfort Food,” always beautifully presented and lovingly prepared. But perhaps most importantly, it is the duo’s commitment to providing a sense of “home” that has struck a chord with their appreciative guests and led to their undeniable success.

A feeling of familiarity is felt immediately upon entering Grub. Wonderfully hidden-away in a converted 1920’s duplex centered in the heart of Hollywood’s hip Post-Production District, guests are treated to slowly rotating ceiling fans, beautiful hardwood floors, a wall of windows looking out to the outdoor patio seating area and an eclectic array of artwork celebrating local artists that is best described as “contemporary-kitsch.” Grub is a perpetual sea of activity with capacity crowds treated like members of the family while being served fresh, delicious and fun food designed to comfort the soul and put a smile on the face.

The Grub Gals have also caught the eye of the television media with recent appearances in five episodes of NBC’s “Recipe TV, The World’s Greatest Chefs” which takes viewers into the kitchens of some of the most high-profile chefs in the nation. They were the Celebrity Chef’s on the WE Network show “Holiday Home Invasion” and chef consultants on the Warren Littlefield show, “Foodie Call.” Grub was also recently featured on the Food Network’s “Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travels,” ABC.com’s “Trendspotting” and profiled on the KNBC-TV show “yourLA.”

Betty was seen in the second season of the Bravo Network hit “Top Chef” as well as cooking her “Ba-Da-Bing Betty’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich” with Al Roker on “The Today Show.” The dish was chosen as the winner of a “Top Chef” competition and is now served on TGI Friday’s menus throughout the world. She can also be heard weekly on the Sirius Satellite radio show “Out Q in the Morning.”

In their rare free time, the pair can also be seen leading their very popular cooking classes at William-Sonoma stores throughout Los Angeles and donating their services to a variety of charities throughout the Southland.

Singer/songwriter Kim Tillman loves our “Crack Bacon” so much she wrote us a snazzy little jingle for it!
